Ignite Energy Resources Limited ('IER') is an Australian unlisted public natural resource and energy technology development company. IER's operations are divided into three subsidiaries: Ignite Resources, Gippsland Gas and Licella.
Ignite Resources holds the rights to IER's Cat-HTR technology (within Victoria, Australia) that upgrades lignite (brown coal) into synthetic crude oil ('Syncrude') and metallurgical-grade coal ('Met Coal'). Ignite Resources also holds EL 4416, located in Victoria, which hosts a 16.6 billion tonne (Bt) lignite resource.
Gippsland Gas holds the exploration rights for biogenic coal seam gas ('CSG') within EL 4416, across which a 12.6 trillion cubic feet ('TCF') Contingent Resource has been independently estimated.
Licella has developed a modified Cat-HTR platform that rapidly converts wet biomass (plant material) into 'BioCrude' oil and high-value bio-chemicals. Licella’s BioCrude is a renewable equivalent of petroleum crude oil that can be blended and upgraded at existing refineries into 'drop-in' renewable fuels. Licella has a partnership Norske Skog to jointly develop the Cat-HTR platform for the upgrading of woody waste and purpose grown crops.
The Cat-HTR platform rapidly upgrades both lignite (brown coal) into Syncrude and Upgraded Coal, and biomass (plant material) into BioCrude and high-value bio-chemicals. IER owns a fully-operational pilot plant at its Somersby Engineering Facility on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. IER's current Large Pilot Plant (LPP) has a processing capacity of 7.5ktpa.
