A revolutionary Biomass (coal and plant matter) conversion technology with a potential world-class Biomass resource

Ignite Energy Resources, with its affiliate Licella, have developed a Super Critical Water (SCW) reactor technology for converting modern Biomass (plant matter) and ancient Biomass (coal) into highly valuable oil and coal products. Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia with operations in Sydney, Australia, and in the United States, IER aims to build commercial scale SCW reactors throughout the world. Cost effectively converting low valued feedstocks into high valued products could create substantial margins. Independent expert reports have predicted that IER’s process is economic, even at oil prices as low as $30 per barrel. The Company’s strategy is to be active in all aspects of the Biomass supply chain. By owning both the conversion technology and Biomass resources, IER hopes to capture part of the full energy margin.

As part of IER’s integrated strategy, it owns rights to Exploration License (EL) 4416 in the Gippsland Basin in Australia. Independent expert reports state that EL 4416 has at least 18 billion tonnes of lignite resources, a form of ancient biomass. Using the conversion rate of the existing IER reactor in Sydney, this 18 billion tonnes could potentially be converted into approximately 18 billion barrels of oil and 5 billion tonnes of cleaner coal products. While lignite is widely available, it is highly polluting when used in conventional applications. Converting lignite into IER’s coal products can reduce CO2 emissions up to 40%. Using modern Biomass, IER’s process can be virtually carbon neutral.

The world has vast quantities of low grade coals and agricultural wastes that are virtually unusable with conventional technologies. The IER process hopes to convert these low-valued resources into high-valued fuels, all while reducing CO2 production. Secure domestic energy supplies from abundant Biomass resources while reducing carbon footprints, that’s Ignite Energy Resources.
